May 15-24 churches: night visiting hours

During the event of Genio Fiorentino 2009in Florence, together with concerts, special openings, etc. it will be possible to visit most of the important churches located into the historic center during the night, from 8.00 pm to 11 pm. (guided tours are available, sadly just in italian). Free entrance!

This is a good new, since you can save time during the day to visit other attractions and have your after-dinner walk visiting our cathedrals under the moon

Here is the list

santa-trinita- may 15 Santa Trinita (close to Ponte Santa Trinita, at the end of Via Tornabuoni, the boutiques street).

- may 16 San Frediano in Cestello and Seminario Maggiore (on the other side of the river, walkable distance, beautiful view).

- may 17 Santa Maria Novella (close to the train station and the world famous Fharmacy Farmacia di Santa Maria Novella)

santa-croce- may 18 San Niccolò in Oltrarno (on the other side of the river, located in a very nice area)

- may 19 Santa Croce (a must to see in Florence)

- may 20 S.S. Apostoli (close to the Old Bridge, Ponte Vecchio)

- may 21 S. Maria Maddalena de’ Pazzi (not far from San Marco sq.)

- may 22 Chiesa di Ognissanti and Cenacle (not far from S. Maria Novella church)

- may 23 Santo Spirito (on the other side of the river. Walkable distance. Must to visit)

- may 24 San Lorenzo (2 steps from the B&B , you can’t miss it!)

My lemon jam

my lemons Here are the lemons from the lemon tree on my terrace.

Don’t ask me why I have lemons in may, probably it’s because of a winter not too cold…

By the way, yesterday morning I asked to myself: what to do with this 1 kilo lemons? It was 8.00 am and I was sitting at the table with my milk and coffee, a slice of bread with strawberry jam I made a couple of weeks ago… Why not to try a lemon jam?

Here is the recipe of mom, who’s an excellent chef :-)
1 kilo of good, organic lemons
700 gr. of sugar

my-lemon-jamCut the lemons in thin slices and put them in cold water for 1 day.
After that, take the lemons away from the water and put them in a saucepan; cover the slices of lemons with water and let it to boil for 10/15 minutes.
Throw the boiled water from the saucepan and add 700 gr. of sugar; let it simmer for about 1h and 30 min. (depending on your taste).

Delicious!!
