Best “panini” sandwich in Florence, a short list
June 24, 2009
Are you hungry in the middle of the day or do you want to eat something in the afternoon? Don’t be content with a sad slide of pizza or a sandwich bought in a tourist bar!
Florence has a lot to offer and we want you take the best of this city and eat where Florentine use to go.
There is a place near Mr.My Resort called Lì per Lì (in Via San Zanobi at the corner with via XXVII Aprile). They prepare your personal panino as you want it; it is cheap and you can accompany with a good glass of wine. Lì per Lì, open everyday except Sat&Sun. from 10.30am to 7.30pm.
If you are hungry before 2.00pm you have absolutely to taste the famous lampredotto sandwich at Nerbone, inside the building of central food market in San Lorenzo, 2 steps from Mr My Resort and Relais Grand Tour: everyone in Florence like it.
Don’t ask what lampredotto is; trust the Florentine who go crazy about it ![]()
There are some tables where you can seat together with other people (self-service), and it’s not unusual to meet tourists since Nerbone is quite famous and florentines love to recommend it. Not only tripe and lampredotto, but also boiled meat with a green sauce. Vegetables available, as soups and pasta. Da Nerbone, open every day except Sunday, from 7.30am to 1.30pm.
If shopping makes you hungry and you’re in Via Tornabuoni area, then a good place to stop is Procacci, located between the most expensive boutiques in town. This is an historical place of Florence where you can eat their famous truffle mini sandwich , or a slice of the “babà cake”. No coffee, just wines or drinks. Procacci, Via de’ Tronabuoni 64R, open everyday except. Sun. 10.30am-8.00pm (ps. not cheap).
If you are in the Santa Croce area, a stop is at Nencioni where we adore their superb salty pies with cheese and anchovies accompanied with a Prosecco flute. Nencioni bar pasticceria, Via Pietrapiana 24R, open everyday from 8.00am to 7.30pm.
And last but not least the “king” of the sandwich and tasty morsel: Da ‘Ino, 2 steps from the Uffizi museum (via dei Georgofili, a hidden corner behind the Uffizi, in Via della Ninna). You can hear ‘Ino’s advises or just treat yourself: it is hard to leave that place and moreover is hard not to be back… Da ‘Ino, open Sun-Mon-Tue 11am-5.00pm and Wed-Thur-Fri-Sat 11.00am-8.00pm.

Here is another good ice-cream parlour address, located between the Duomo sq. and Piazza della Signoria.
The place is small, the gelato is excellent. I love their pistacchio and their mousse (coffee, chocolate), and you can’t miss the cream with chestnut honey and sesame seeds.
The name is Perché no? (Why not?strong> )
PERCHE’ NO
Via dei Tavolini
open all days
11.00 am – 11.00 pm
(Tues 12.00 pm – 8.00 pm)
Pitti Uomo 2009
June 16, 2009
Wow, Pitti Fashion in Florence is started today and the city is in caos!
People everywhere, young charming men walking in the streets, special events, photographers, celebrities on the red carpet of Fortezza da Basso general quarter, and the sartorialist (he didn’t post photos on his blog, yet, but I’m sure he will very soon!).
This year there is the Pitti People project wants to “give a face” to the visitors, buyers and journalist, and see what fashion people wear during the fair, with the help of phographers who will post photos on blogs and common areas inside the Fortezza da Basso.
New talents are involved in the project of Who is on next (cooperation Pitti Immagine, Alta Roma, Uomo Vogue).
And, the very special guest of this Pitti Uomo is “Undercover” of the designer Jun Takahashi who will present his menswear collection S/S 2010 in the Giardino di Boboli, on june 17 evening.
A great event in Florence, right 2 minutes walk from Mr My Resort B&B and Relais Grand Tour B&B.
