Perseo by Cellini

Here is a detail that I personally took from the Perseo by Cellini.

You can admire this beautiful guy in the Loggia de’ Lanzi, located in Piazza della Signoria, at the corner with the Uffizi Gallery, together with other enchanting statues from the Renaissance….

A new post about Piazza Signoria is coming on the 26th…

Romantic getaway in Florence… and proposal

July 18, 2009

wedding proposalLove Love Love…

We wish S. and L. happiness, joy, and love. We really have no words to say how happy we are for this young lovely couple.

S. organized this special trip not only for a birthday tread to his girlfriend L…. Here is the email that he sent us after their stay in Florence, at MR My Resort:

Many thanks for a wonderful stay at Mr My Resort (5 to 8 July). The trip was a birthday treat to my girlfriend Lorraine and she loved your new accomodation – it truly was amazing. Thank you for your help and patience with all my queries before and after our arrival – as it was a special trip, I wanted to make sure everything ran smoothly.
During our stay, I asked Lorraine to marry me. She said “Yes” so we hope to be back in Florence for our honeymoon in a couple of years and look forward to staying with you again.
Many thanks once again.

I think that it’s our guests to make our place so special… Now we will have to work on this special honeymoon ;-) … Two years it’s a short time.

You can also read the review that S. left here on Tripadvisor.com . Thank you S. and L., for your sweet words about us.

We wish a good week-end to everybody! Love is in the air… :-)

This morning, at home

home made cakeGoodmorning!
7.00 AM. First of all, my caffellatte (milk and coffee) made with organic fresh milk and home made italian espresso, and my home made “barattolini” cake, very simple and delicious…
Want to know what “barattolini cake” is?

Today, on my terrace

July 1, 2009

basil and tomatoesHere is the best “pomodoro” tomato all over the world!

The plant is on my terrace, my father gave me the plant a month ago, very small and green; then I saw the small yellow flowers, and now… my first organic tomato!

In the photo there is a basil plant from Sicily, green and parfumed.

My tomatoes are the small quality, we call it “pomodorini” and are very delicious, more than a standard size tomato; this kind of “pomodorini” is good to prepare salads and appetizers, but since they’re tasty I use them also with pasta, fried eggs (uova e pomodoro), panini
The other tomatoes, bigger than these, are good for the “pomarola“, our tomato sauce, the basic sauce to start to cook a good chicken with sauce, or “chicken alla cacciatora” (with olives, rosmary, onions…), or “ossibuchi al sugo” (ossibuchi with tomatoes sauce), etc.

There are lots of things you can do with tomatoes-pomodori and basil, from a simply sauce for pasta, to a special soup for summer, or a recipe for the long winter… Do you know the pappa al pomodoro, and the pasta with basil pesto? Be inspired by my recipes here!

A present to me…

April 22, 2009

my presentThe bouquet that you see here is a present of a couple of guests (Colette and Serge); they spent a week by us for the 35 anniversary, and this was their first time in Florence.

It seems he spent a week to see all the accomodations in Florence, and then he decided to stay with us!

I can say that Colette husband’s is a romantic man who loves flowers, and she’s a very charming woman; he asked us to prepare for his wife a magnificent big bouquet upon arrival, and we personally found gorgeus white roses and lillà flowers inside the San Lorenzo Market, which is one of the best places for everything must be fresh.

We also had an aperitiv together and talk about France, Corse, and the beauty of Florence, where they falled in love especially with our ancient palazzo doors, and asked for artisans shop to find an ancient restored door for their home in France (there is one just between our Relais Grand Tour B&B and Mr My Resort).

… Flowers are girls best friends :-)
