The Academy Gallery is located at 3 minutes walking distance from the Mr My Resort BB and here you can adminre the world-famous David by Michelangelo. 

The Uffizi Gallery most known masterworks is the Venus by Botticelli and also the Allegory of Spring, and this museum is located at 15 minutes walk from our bed and breakfast. 

The Pitti Palace hold more than one museum in its opulent rooms: here there are the world-famous Palatine Gallery and (Galleria Palatina) with its Titian’s La Bella and Rubens’ Four Philosophers, and the Modern Art Gallery (Galleria d’Arte Moderna), then you can also visit the Museo del Costume, Museo delle Porcellane, and Museo degli Argenti. The first two galleries are located inside the Pitti Palce, while the others are located into the Girdino di Boboli, where you can also admire the Buontalenti Grotto.

It is a perfect 30 minutes walk from the B&B Mr My Resort to the Pitti Palace, admiring the Duomo cathedral, the Uffizi Gallery, thePonteVecchio OldBridge… 

The most busy time of the year inFlorence is from april to the end of june and from September to the end of October. So, if you intend to come to Florence during this period, you have to know that there are long lines at the museums and we strongly recommend to pre-book your tickets, reserving as soon as you can.

 There are only 2 official websites to book  museums tickets  www.firenzemusei.it  and www.polomuseale.firenze.it . All the other websites will make you pay more than the standard ticket price + pre-booking service due to the museum (which is euros 4,00 per person. Ticket price is about 10,00 euros, depending also on temporary exhibitions).

 You can book your tickets on these websites with your credit card. Sometimes their online availability is fully booked, but very often there are still unsold tickets if you call them at +39 055 294883.

 Or, if you’re a guest of Mr My Resort, just email us and we will be happy to book the tickets for you. In this way you have not give your credit card details, and you will pay (cash only) when you pick up the tickets at the museum on the day of the visit.

 Once a year there is the Settimana dei Beni Culturali (Week of the Culture) where all the state museums are free. Usually it is in late spring/ early summer, but we will let you know in advance. At this time it is still possible to pre-book the tickets, and you will pay just that 4,00 euros for the service.

Florence is not only the Uffizi-Academy-Pitti. If you have more than a couple of days to enjoy our city, we also recommend to visit the San Marco Museum, the Bargello, Medici Chapels, Palazzo Medici-Riccardi, and many other sights where you can meet art and beauty.

Where can you buy the Firenze Card? This special museums pass is not bookable in advance. So, be prepared to stay in the lines for a few minutes. The places where you can buy it are: Palazzo Vecchio (in Piazza della Signoria), and the Chiesa di Orsanmichele in Via Calzaioli (between the Duomo sq and the Singoria sq.) 1. From Pisa airport to Florence:  “Pisa Airport – G. Galilei” http://www.pisa-airport.com/ (english version availabile)is located between 1h to 2hours and half from Florence city center,  depending on the transport you choose. By bus: http://www.terravision.eu/florence_pisa.html , by train http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/homepage_en.html (put “Pisa ae” for Pisa airport and Firenze for Florence train station). Actually there is a special 1 hour high speed service, available  until 8PM (after 8pm there are some trains to get in Firenze stazione in 1h and 40 min. ).Tickdet price is about 5,00-6,00 euros per person. There is also a taxi service leaving from the Pisa airport at a fixed price of euros 150,00 (it takes about 40 minutes to get into the historic center of Florence).

Rent a car in Pisa and get in Florence center: this is not the best. If you want to spend your time in Florence, then your car will stay in a garage or a parking because you can take the car just to drive outside the city center and amd not into the historic center like some residents can do with a special permission. We suggest you to save money and rent a car when you leave Florence to get in the countryside like Chianti area, Siena, etc. Or:  rent your car in the morning and go outside Florence for a daily trip and then drop it off to the car rental in the evening and skip the garage tariffs!

2. From Florence airport to Florence center: Florence airport “Firenze Peretola Airport – A. Vespucci” http://www.aeroporto.firenze.it/IT/index.php (english version available) is very close to the city center. Taxi is the best way. The tariff is between 18,00 – 22,00 euros including your bags, and you will arrive at the B&B in no more than 15-20 minutes depending on the traffic around the city center.

This year Easter falls on Sunday April 24th, and on that day there is the most special event of Easter week in Florence: the explosion of the cart “scoppio del carro” in the Duomo square. If this is your first time in Florence you can’t miss it!

This is an old popular and religious tradition ending in fireworks, meaning a peaceful and rich year for the city of Florence. All locals are used to go to the Piazza del Duomo to see this spectacular tradition attracting also many tourists.

**During Easter week all museums and shops are regulary open. Shops will be closed just on Sunday Easter Day, but Uffizi, Academy, Pitti Palace, etc. are open 8-15am – 6.50pm as usual (always better to pre-book your museum tickets! **Restaurants: open all days, as usual. The tradition here in Italy says that you must spend the Pasquetta Day on April 25th outside the city, together with your family, and with a pic-nic set to enjoy traditional Easter food in the countryside, parks, green areas.  Easter day is usually at home or at the restaurant, and many menu include lamb, spinach, boiled eggs, chocolate cakes decorated with Spring flowers or simple home-made cakes with almonds and organge flowers essence.
